Archery Workshops for Schools

We can offer workshops for children of all ages, over half days, full days or activity weeks. The activities can be designed to suit your requirements. For example we have recently provided archery for various topics including the 1066 Battle of Hastings, the Saxons, middle earth and Robin Hood.

On theses sessions the children were able to handle our medieval longbows, replica arrows and other resources. We can also provide sessions using our safe equipment for your reception classes.Junior target archery

Sessions can be held indoors or outdoors depending on the facilities available. Our Archery GB qualified coaches provide a safe, fun, learning environment with coaching techniques to suit all of your pupils.

Wedding Day Entertainment

Over the past few months Grey Goose Archery has seen an increase in the number of requests for archery as a form of wedding entertainment.

To the I do's

Some of our clients wish to enhance a themed wedding with archeryand may also have the official photographs taken using the traditional targets as a backdrop. Other clients choose archery as entertainment for their guests since it is a sociable activity and a good icebreaker so that the guests can get to know one another.

Another benefit is that, unlike some forms of wedding entertainment, it is accessible to the children as well as the adults.

School Workshops

We have already started to take bookings for our school workshops and enrichment days for the Summer Term.

Arm Bracers

We provide workshops to enrich History lessons, Science lessons and Numeracy / Maths lessons and can arrange bespoke activities; we have already run a very successful Middle Earth Day. Sessions can be held indoors or outdoors depending on the facilities available. Our coaches provide a safe, fun, learning environment with coaching techniques to suit all of your pupils.

After School Archery Clubs

Would you like to offer your pupils an opportunity to try archery, to practise it on a regular basis or even to take part in tournaments?

Whatever your needs are, we can help. Grey Goose Archery offers curriculum based lessons, after school clubs and summer courses. We have been running archery classes within schools for many years and we are happy to provide excellent references.

Primary school archery

Archery is a low impact gateway sport, that is both physically and mentally challenging. The benefits from archery include improving mental capacity, physical health and general fitness. Archery can also improve patience and focus and can give the student a strong sense of personal achievement.

All our coaches are qualified Level 1 (or above) Archery GB coaches and have enhanced DBS clearance. They all have child protection course certification and full specific archery insurance. We can carry out any necessary risk assessments

Performance Coaching

Our head coach has spent another weekend at Lilleshall, home of Archery GB, where he has been attending training given by LLoyd Brown; the current Archery GB Olympic coach.IMG_1107

This training has been provided to only a few in the country who were selected via an application process. The training involved new skills and drills with the aim of producing new talented archers that can progress to the highest levels in competitive archery.

In addition to LLoyd Brown there was also input from Michael Peart (Paralympic Coach),   Rob Norman (Archery GB/ English Institute of Sport Strength and Conditioning Coach) and  Oliver Logan (Bio-mechanist/Coach, English Institute of Sport). This training is being cascaded to our other coaches and new approaches to archery training are already being implemented.

2014 European Archery Festival

Europe’s largest archery tournament and trade show – and the third leg of the Indoor World Cup – is coming to Telford, United Kingdom on 24-26 January 2014.

Around 1,500 archers from around the globe will descend on Britain at the start of 2014, competing for over £20,000 in prize money, visiting the largest trade show this side of the Atlantic and enjoying the largest archery festival ever seen in Europe.

The tournament isn’t just for the pros, though: it’s a chance to compete on a world stage, in an international-level competition – and enjoy the atmosphere that comes along with it. Whatever bowstyle, age or tournament experience, this is one festival you can’t afford to miss out on.

It’s not just a tournament.

It’s a festival.

Come and celebrate archery with us.

Introduction to the Compound Bow

Every fancied giving a compound bow a try? Most archery beginners’ courses do not include compound bow tuition and you may be left wondering what are the ‘wheels’ and strings all about!  Our one-to-one compound course is designed to introduce archers to this modern bow and to familiarise them with this bow style. It will also be invaluable to those who wish to pursue this form of archery and who need advice before purchasing equipment. The areas that are covered are shooting form, equipment selection and bow safety. The latest Hoyt and Mathews equipment are used and the course is held at our Lakeside venue. This tuition can be purchased as a gift voucher for that special someone. Alternatively, contact us to book your tuition.
